Lionel,

That is the quite the comment. Speaks to a lot of things that have been happening in the past few years. I think there was a group of photogs who were a bit upset about the state of affairs of the modern PJ world and how DB can make these images in the midst of the modern homogenization of the photography world. But, after all, they made their own bed. Great comment, thanks for posting. You could apply it to many genres at this point.

David is secure in his reputation and knows there will always be food on the table. He is free to push aside battery powered cameras and to reclaim the wonder of a child armed with a box of marvels, all with mechanical moving parts. He can take his toys to meet the President. His images are dreams and glimpses behind the scenes. Should we despise the hacks alongside him, in their machine-like pursuit of stock photos or should we pity them for getting stuck on the fly-paper of life ?

I’ve followed david for a while and have emailed back and forth a few times. I really love the work that he is doing and the work that he has done. He puts a whole different perspective on the subjects he covers.
