James Whitlow Delano: “America, How’s the Economy Treating You?”

James just passed this along and I thought you all might find this interesting. I like the work that James does, the range of it, and this was different from what I’d seen from him in the past. Foreshadowing perhaps? We’ll see. If you don’t know his work, look him up. You can find him here.

I saw this a couple of days ago and it really inspired me. The title and concept are so simple but the message it work portrays is pretty frightening.

I think you already know this but James was my instructor for over six months on the Tokyo Documentary Photography Workshop. It was a highly valuable experience to receive advice and encouragement from him on a regular basis. He really does know his stuff and his fairly unique style, although not for everyones tastes, makes his work stand out. One of my goals this year is to buy one of his prints from his India: All Seems Sacred project (http://jameswhitlowdelano.photoshelter.com/gallery/India-All-Seems-Sacred/G0000veHTFPWgOQY/P0000S3F8.YeurJQ)

If anyone one out there is interested in doing a documentary project in Japan, in which James is an instructor, I highly recommend the TDPW.org.

      Hey Sean,

I totally agree. I’d love to do both a doc project on Japan AND take a workshop with James. I’ve not taken a workshop in many, many years but am game to do another.

Saw this in FB the other day. Really nice project he has here and I like his use of audio in the piece. Great work! Thanks for sharing.
