lightening is flashing
in the pitch black darkness
promising thunder and rain
as new light finds the day
wet drops dot the dust
answering prayers for rain
giving new life again
giving new hope again
as promised

What’s not to love about this? I love thunderstorms, don’t get many where I live now, miss them terribly. The first half of the poem captures the atmosphere perfectly. My favourite lines are these:
“giving new life again
giving new hope again”
Simple, beautiful and full of joy.
Thanks Paul, will pass that along to her. She loves hearing feedback.
Love this. Nice mother, son collaboration.
I’m BY FAR the best kid she has.
I love that you collaborate with your mom on stuff. Lightning’s a double edged sword over here in this season (as I assume it is anywhere that sees high temperatures). As we move into the heat of summer, it brings hope and fear for life – rain and bushfire. The yin and yang.
Yes, same for Texas, but they had rain so things are okay. New Mexico lightning is also bad….two HUGE fires last year, but found out yesterday one was caused by immigrants coming across the border.
Belissimo!
This is beautiful.
Fits in perfectly with the kind of beauty you make.
Some family!
Thanks Erin,
She is a handful, but we wouldn’t want her any other way.
